Mossglow, is that your tail sticking out behind that daisy? Mossglow: Shhhh! Is the butterfly gone? Is it gone yet? Sam: It is just a butterfly. It is very, very tiny. Mossglow: Tiny things have WINGS. Wings are very dangerous. Sam: I do not think wings are dangerous. Mossglow: ARE YOU SURE? Sam: I am very, very sure. Mossglow: Oh. Oh, it IS tiny. It is... it is actually quite pretty. Hee hee hee... ROOOMBLE. Sam: Did you just make a rumble laugh? Mossglow: I did not mean to do that. It just came out. Sam: I like your rumble laugh. Come on, let’s walk in the meadow! Mossglow: WAIT. What is THAT dark shape on the ground? It is following me! It is copying everything I do! Sam: That is your shadow, Mossglow. It is YOU. Mossglow: It is ME?! But it is so... so FLAT. And it has no eyes! Sam: Shadows never have eyes. They are just shapes made of sunshine. Mossglow: ARE YOU SURE? Sam: I am very, very sure. Mossglow: I will... wave at it. It waved back! Hee hee hee... ROOOMBLE. Sam: Your shadow is waving! Look, look at it go! Mossglow: I have a very silly shadow. I think I love it. Sam: Mossglow, come look at this fluffy little dust bunny by the log! Mossglow: A BUNNY?! Is it fierce? Does it have big teeth? Sam: It is not a real bunny! It is just a tiny puff of fluff. Like a cloud, but smaller. Mossglow: A puff... of fluff? Sam: Watch. I will blow it away. Whooooo. Mossglow: It... floated! It just floated away like a little dream. Hee hee hee... ROOOMBLE. Sam: Mossglow! There is a tiny green frog sitting on that rock! Mossglow: A FROG?! Frogs can JUMP. Jumping is very unpredictable! Sam: I will say hello to it. Hello, little frog! Mossglow: It said ribbit back. Was that a hello? Sam: That is frog for hello. You can say hello too. Mossglow: Hel... hello, small frog. I am Mossglow. I am a dragon. I am not scared of you. Mostly. Sam: It ribbited again! I think it likes you! Mossglow: Hee hee hee... ROOOMBLE. I have a frog friend now. Sam: Oh! Do you feel that? The wind is starting to blow! Mossglow: THE WIND?! It is invisible! You cannot SEE it! How do you know where it is coming from?! Sam: You hold out your hand. Like this. And you just... feel it. Mossglow: And it will not grab me? Sam: Wind cannot grab. It can only tickle. Mossglow: ARE YOU SURE? Sam: I am very, very sure. Mossglow: Oh. OH. It IS a tickle! It tickled right between my scales! Hee hee hee... ROOOMBLE. Sam: You are laughing at the wind! Mossglow: The wind is very funny. I like the wind now. Sam: Mossglow, look up. The sky is turning pink and orange. And look, look way up high... Mossglow: WHAT IS THAT?! That enormous glowing round thing! It is ENORMOUS! It is coming CLOSER! Sam: Mossglow, you are hiding behind ME. I am very small. I cannot hide you. Mossglow: Is it dangerous? Sam: That is the moon. And the moon is the BEST. It tucks everyone in. Mossglow: Even... even big dragons? Sam: Even big dragons. Lie down, Mossglow. Mossglow: ...Like this? Sam: Just like that. Ooh. Your belly is so warm. Warm like a big round sun. Mossglow: Sam. I think... I think I am not very scared right now. Sam: That is because we are tucked in. Mossglow: The moon is very nice. It is round and soft and it does not have wings. Sam: No wings at all. Mossglow: Goodnight, brave little Sam.
