## Story

Sam was tucked in tight, his blanket pulled up to his chin and his pillow soft as a cloud. The moon was out, big and round, shining through the curtains... and then he heard it. A tiny sound, drifting in through the window. Tooooot. Sam sat up. He listened very still. Tooooot. There it was again, soft as a lullaby.

He slipped out of bed in his pajamas — the blue ones with the little stars on them — and tiptoed through the house and out into the back garden. The grass was cool and soft under his feet. And there, between the two big trees at the end of the garden... something was glowing.

A tiny silver train station had appeared, no bigger than a garden shed, glowing with a warm, quiet light. And waiting on the platform was a little train — made entirely of stars. Each carriage sparkled and shimmered, like someone had scooped up pieces of the night sky and shaped them into something you could ride. Sam walked closer, eyes wide.

Then, with a soft little hiss of steam, a door opened. And out stepped the Robot Conductor. He was round and friendly-looking, with blue eyes that blinked slowly like two little lanterns. He wore a silver cap, and he carried a tiny clipboard. He looked right at Sam and gave a very precise nod.

Conductor: Welcome aboard the Starlight Express, passenger Sam. All passengers, please mind the moonbeam gap.

Sam: Where does the train go?

Conductor: Anywhere your dreams need to visit, passenger Sam.

Sam stepped carefully over the moonbeam gap and climbed aboard. The seat inside was soft — soft like a cloud, warm like a hug. The little train gave one gentle toot, and then... it began to move. Up. Not along the garden, but UP — gliding along tracks made of pure moonlight, higher and higher into the velvet night sky.

Conductor: First stop — Sleepy Cloud Station.

The train drifted to a soft stop beside the fluffiest, roundest cloud Sam had ever seen. The cloud opened one big sleepy eye... and gave the longest, slowest yawn. Then it waved — a gentle, wobbly wave — and closed its eye again. Sam waved back and whispered a quiet hello.

Conductor: Next stop — Pillow Mountain Station.

The train floated up to a mountain made entirely of pillows — soft ones, big ones, small ones, all stacked up high and leaning gently to one side. And from somewhere deep inside the pillow pile came a sound. A snore. A very soft, very cozy snore. Sam giggled quietly and snuggled deeper into his seat.

Conductor: And now, passenger Sam — Soft Star Station.

The train stopped beside a tiny glowing panel floating in the sky. On it was one small button — round and silver. The Conductor smiled his precise little smile and nodded. Sam reached out and pressed it. All around them, the stars dimmed down, down, down... to the softest, gentlest twinkle. Like tiny friends whispering goodnight.

Sam: Will I be home for bed?

Conductor: We are getting there now, passenger Sam. Final stop ahead.

The little star train turned, very gently, and began to glide back down through the soft night sky. Down past the twinkling stars, down through the cool, quiet air, down toward the little square of warm yellow light that was Sam’s bedroom window. The train floated through the window — smooth as a whisper — and landed with the softest little bump on the bedroom rug.

Conductor: Final stop. Bedroom Junction. Thank you for riding the Starlight Express.

Sam climbed off the train, his feet sinking into the soft rug. He padded back to his bed and pulled the blanket up to his chin. His pillow was still warm. His room was still quiet. He closed his eyes and listened... and heard one last sound drifting through the window. Tooooot. Very, very soft. And then it was gone.

Outside, the moon hummed a small, quiet tune to itself. The stars twinkled down, soft and gentle. And Sam... Sam closed his eyes, and smiled, and drifted off to dream of soft stations, sleepy clouds, and a little train made of stars.
